RARE 1940'S - 1950'S OWL THORENS MUSIC BOX CIGARETTE TABLE LIGHTER BY FRED ZIMBALIST - WITH WORKING EVANS LIGHTER.  Elegant ornate musical table lighter depicting a red eye owl with a hand tooled floral engraved body of nickel silver plating over brass & with a wind up Swiss Thorens mechanism movement located at the base. When you left it up it plays the Anniversary Song & shuts off when you set it down. Lighter Works great!

Related to Ephrem Zimbalist, Sr. (the famed concert violinist), he founded the Zimbalist Music Box Company which operated out of Cleveland, Ohio. He is known for these highly prized and unique nickel silver plated on brass pieces that were hand tooled and engraved in India (though often similar, no two were exactly the same).

HALLMARKS:  Unmarked, but guaranteed to be a Swiss Thorens music box.  On branch # 28.  On lighter base (above)
- EVANS U.S.A. -  on the lighter fluid screw - Evans/Fuel & stamped below - a double lion with a crest in the center with the lettering EVANS below.
CONDITION: USED. EXCELLENT to MINT.  Considering age & use. Music box owl is solid/heavy/clean. If anything, the nickel plating is showing flea minute surface wear.
No Other Condition Problems.
The lighter is clean & in excellent working condition.
DIMENSIONS:  Overall H. - 8 1/4". Base - L. - 3 1/2" x W. - 2 1/2".
