    Description

Sampler celebrates the recruitment into the RME (Royal Marine Engineers) and DCLT (Drill Cadet Leadership Training?) in 1918.
    Text of the Needlework:
"Walter T. Smith joined the RME on April 1st 1918.  Robert H. Smith joined the DCLT on August 21st 1918.
The embroidery is done on a loose fabric weave in alternating colors of olive green and tan.  The bottom has two crowns, one in each color.
The original wood frame is in good condition.  It features a basketweave texture which matches nicely with the fabric used for the needlework.
The embroidered fabric appears to have been made stable by mounting on a tighter-weave fabric.  Final backing is a thin sheet of card board.
    Approximate Dimensions:
    Textile itself: 10" x 8.25"
    Frame perimeter: 12 x 10 x 3/4"
    Visible opening of frame: 9.5" x 8"
    Condition;  no reportable issues.
This item came from the extremely large collection of an enthusiastic antique militaria collector.

he item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge.  If you have a question on an item prior to purchase, please ask. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
Please see "About me" for the contract  legalese.  Boring, I know, but essential. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping.
